Welcome to English 1!
This course moves beyond mastering content, and assists students in gaining the skills necessary to become a functioning citizen in the worldwide community. With a focus on choices and consequences, students will gain the ability to problem-solve under pressure, to formulate their own opinions and to verbalize those thoughts and perspectives clearly. The English 1 classroom strives to promote an environment where discussions and collaboration are highly valued and encouraged. Through a variety of activities and assessments, students will learn to respectfully consider diverse viewpoints, how to clearly articulate their own verbal or written responses, and how to discover meaningful, personal connections to literature. |
